Box Score Hyago Matielo's penalty kick with 44.5 seconds remaining lifted Mount Olive to a 2-1 victory over Pfeiffer in Conference Carolinas men's soccer Saturday at Amon Field. The win was the Trojans' first of the season.

Sean Lockett served the ball into the box, near the right post. Pfeiffer was whistled for a foul in the box and a yellow card to give Mount Olive a penalty kick opportunity.
Matielo, a junior from Mogi Guacu, Brazil, punched the ball past the Falcon keeper for the winning goal. Pfeiffer's last challenge resulted in a goal kick for Mount Olive and the Trojans ran out the clock. The goal was Matielo's second of the season.
Mount Olive (1-8-0 overall, 1-2-0 Conference Carolinas) got on the scoreboard in the 17th minute when Louis Gorman blasted a shot from 30 yards out. The Trojans took a 1-0 lead into the halftime break.

Saturday's contest was part of Cancer Awareness Day on the MOC campus. Throughout the month of October, the Trojan athletics department is participating in the Cures for the Colors campaign with Southeastern Cancer Care, an organization in Goldsboro that provides support, material and services for cancer patients in Eastern North Carolina. The Trojan men's soccer team wore gold Saturday to represent childhood cancer awareness.
