Box Score Mount Olive allowed two goals in the first 18 minutes as the Trojans fell to Lenoir-Rhyne 3-0 in non-conference men's soccer Wednesday at Hickory, N.C. The match was the Trojans' second in as many days.
Mount Olive (2-11-0) recorded 18 shots, the Trojans' second-highest shot total of the season, but could not find the back of the net. Louis Gorman and Sean Lockett combined for exactly half of the Trojans' shot attempts.
Lenoir-Rhyne (7-5-1) got on the scoreboard just six minutes into the contest as Ben Jones scored from in front of the goal after a cross from the right side. Tyree Clark added a goal in the 18th minute and the Bears went into halftime with a 2-0 lead. Alex Mather added a goal with less than 90 seconds left in the match.
Mount Olive resumes Conference Carolinas play Saturday as the Trojans travel to Due West, S.C., to take on Erskine in a rematch of the first round of last year's conference tournament. Mount Olive advanced on a penalty kick shootout. Match time is 4:30 p.m.
