Mount Olive, NC - The University of Mount Olive softball team earned a No. 8 spot in the latest Southeast Regional poll, its debut in this season's rankings.

The NCAA regional rankings determine NCAA Tournament selections. The Southeast Region includes Conference Carolinas, South Atlantic Conference, and Peach Belt Conference members.

In this system, conference tournament champions from each league receive automatic bids to the NCAA Tournament, while the remaining five spots are awarded to at-large selections based on final regional rankings. These rankings are updated weekly until the NCAA Tournament selection announcement.

Mount Olive's placement results from a strong Conference Carolinas Tournament performance, highlighted by wins over #2 regionally ranked Francis Marion University and #9 regionally ranked Southern Wesleyan University. This victory pushed UMO ahead of Southern Wesleyan in the latest poll.
