Box Score FERRUM, VA – The University of Mount Olive Trojans maintained their momentum in game two of the Ferrum series, overpowering Ferrum 12-4 with a dynamic offensive display before continuous rain forced the finale's cancellation.
Mount Olive wasted no time setting the tone once again.
Lane McLean sparked the offense with a leadoff single, stole second, and came around to score on a
Jakhari Howard RBI knock to give the Trojans an early 1-0 lead.
The offense surged again in the second when
Mac James smashed a two-run homer to left, extending the lead to 3-0 and showcasing consistent strength at the plate.
After Ferrum added a run in the bottom half, the Trojans countered in the third.
Ryder Hancock lofted a sacrifice fly, and
Garrett Moffett launched a two-run homer, pushing the lead to 6-1 and reinforcing Mount Olive's advantage.
The power continued in the fourth as McLean joined the home run tally with a solo shot, marking Mount Olive's third homer and widening the lead to 7-1.
Ferrum made things interesting in the fifth with a two-run homer of its own, but Mount Olive had the answer—and then some.
Mount Olive blew the game open in the seventh, erupting for five runs.
Rowan Watt singled in a run, a wild pitch scored another, and Moffett drove a sacrifice fly before
Mac James punctuated the inning with his second home run—a two-run shot to right center, making it 12-3.
With the big lead established, Mount Olive cruised to the 12-4 victory, securing the series win in convincing fashion.
Mount Olive's offense again dominated, hammering four homers—two from
Mac James and one each from
Garrett Moffett and
Lane McLean. Aggressive baserunning and timely hitting kept steady pressure on Ferrum.
