GASTONIA, N.C. – The Trojans ended their season with a 6-2 defeat to North Greenville University in an 11:00 a.m. elimination game at the Conference Carolinas Tournament.
Mount Olive grabbed the early edge in the first inning when
Josh Mason—one of the lineup's most reliable power bats—drove a solo home run to left field to put the Trojans on the board.
The game settled into a steady rhythm as Mount Olive's pitchers contained North Greenville through the middle innings, preserving the slim lead while both teams traded scoreless frames.
North Greenville evened things up in the sixth with a solo home run, but the Trojans answered right away. Mason stepped back in and delivered again, sending his second solo shot of the day down the right field line to restore a 2-1 advantage.
Mount Olive positioned itself for a bigger inning later in the frame, loading the bases behind hits from
Jakhari Howard and
Rowan Watt, along with a walk from
Ryder Hancock. Still, North Greenville escaped the threat, leaving the Trojans without the separation they sought.
That missed opportunity marked a turning point in the game, shifting momentum away from Mount Olive.
North Greenville seized the momentum in the eighth, using timely hits and patient at-bats to post four decisive runs and take a 5-2 lead.
Mason accounted for all of the Trojans' offense with his two-home run performance, but Mount Olive could not find the key hit needed to counter North Greenville's late push.
The Trojans finished the 2026 campaign with a 29-21 overall record and a 20-12 mark in Conference Carolinas play, closing the year.
