MOUNT OLIVE (March 28) – Sophomore
Antoine King set an NCAA Provisional Standard in the Discus as the University of Mount Olive men's track & field program registered five event victories at the 9th Annual Adidas Trojan Challenge hosted at Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex.
King placed first overall in the discus with a personal-best mark of 52.79 meters, which ranks among the top 10 in NCAA Division II this season as well as hits a qualifying mark for NCAA DII and conference.
In the 100 meters, Smith secures a first-place finish after crossing the line in blistering 10.49 seconds. Pevia placed second with an improved time of 10.55 seconds, three seconds faster than last year at the same meet, while Hart claimed sixth after crossing the line in 10.84 seconds. Red-shirt junior
Jamavie Glover followed not far behind with a time of 10.90 seconds to round out the 100m dash race.
In 200 meters, senior
Jason Hart secured a first-place finish after crossing the line in 21.17 seconds scraping off one second from last year's meet ranking second in the conference. Sophomore
Leland Smith finished third overall with a time of 21.50 seconds. Sophomore
Jacoby Pevia took fourth place with a finishing time of 21.58 seconds. Sophomore
Travelius Leach followed close behind with a fifth-place finish of 21.69 seconds.
In the 400 meters, freshman
Henry Bullock crosses the finish line with a first place finish of 48.75 seconds. This mark will qualify Bullock for conference also boosting him to seventh place overall in the conference.
Sophomore
Titus Tanui recorded a third-place finish in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:01.07. Freshman
Artem Meltsaiev competed in the 1500-meter race with a time of 4:01.34 hitting the conference qualifying mark.
Sophomore
Ayden Thompson finished second in the 5000 meter with a time of 16:23.70.
In the 400m hurdles, Sophomore Emmanuel Oxendine finished in 60.71 seconds placing fifth.
In the 4x100, Smith, Hart, Glover, and Pevia finished first with a time of 41.60 to start the morning for sprinters.
Senior
Kavon Poindexter and Senior
Kobe Jones secured second and third place both jumping the same height of 1.99 meters. Jones also leapt a second place finish of 6.95 in the long jump.
Freshman Draw McLamb and junior
Javariante Core took third and fourth place behind Jones with jumps of 6.90 by McLamb and 6.78 by Core.
In the triple jump, Sophomore
Wonderful Fadipe hit a third place finish of 14.12 to complete his day while Freshman
Tim Campbell finished in fifth place with a jump of 13.85 meters.
Senior Sigursteinn Asgiersson secured the third place throw of the meet with a distance of 16.25 meters.
In the hammer throw, junior
Micah Harrison recorded a fourth-place finish with a distance of 56.57 meters. Senior
Matthew Heywood finished in fifth place with a toss of 55.44 meters.
The Trojans are scheduled to return to action April 2-3 at the VertKlasse Meeting, hosted by High Point University.
