Gasdia Named Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Week After Season-Opening Win

MOUNT OLIVE – Senior defender Giavanhna Gasdia of the University of Mount Olive women's lacrosse team has been named the Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Week following a strong performance in the Trojans' home season opener against Southern Wesleyan on Saturday.

Gasdia anchored a dominant defensive effort, leading Mount Olive with six draw controls and three ground balls. The Trojan defense forced eight caused turnovers, controlled 21 draws, and limited the Warriors to just five goals on 13 shot attempts, holding them to a .385 shooting percentage.

Mount Olive returns to action Saturday at home against Anderson, with opening draw scheduled for 12 p.m. at Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex.
