MOUNT OLIVE - Mount Olive women's lacrosse started the season off with a 21-5 win over conference opponent Southern Wesleyan at home.
The Trojans proved who they are early with six goals in each of the first three quarters, out-shooting Southern Wesleyan 42–13 and controlling possession throughout.
Mount Olive owned the game winning the ground ball battle 19–6, draw controls 21–7, and clearing on 8-of-9 attempts.
Maddy Fratus led the charge with a game-high seven points on four goals and three assists, while
Katie Broom matched her with four goals and two assists tallying up six points while also having the team-high for shots in today's game.
Alexa Fitzgerald added three goals, and
Ava Mullen,
Hailey Morgan, and
Morghan Pollock each scored twice as the offense showcased depth with 10 different goal scorers.
In goal, the Trojans combined for five saves while limiting quality looks, allowing just five shots on target all afternoon.
From the opening draw to the final whistle, Mount Olive dictated the pace and delivered a statement win to start the year 1–0.
