McCraw earns USA Lacrosse All-American honors

SPARKS, Md. (May 16) – For the first time in her career, University of Mount Olive sophomore defender Simone McCraw received All-American honors by USA Lacrosse on Friday following a five-peat in the Conference Carolinas Championship and a second appearance in the NCAA Tournament for the Trojans.

McCraw was named as an honorable mention by the organization, while Emmanuel sophomore Paige Murphy garnered second-team status. The duo were the only student-athletes from the Conference Carolinas to be voted to the All-American Teams.

A native of Columbus, Ohio, McCraw was selected the Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Year, becoming the eighth-straight UMO player to earn the accolade. McCraw led a UMO defense that ranked sixth in NCAA Division II with 13.32 caused turnovers per game, while sitting fourth in the nation with 24.84 ground balls per contest. McCraw finished seventh in the country and led the Conference Carolinas with 2.95 caused turnovers per game. She finished the season with 55 caused turnovers, the second-most in single-season, while collecting 43 ground balls and 40 draw controls in 19 games. Additionally, McCraw was named to the All-Conference Carolinas First-Team.
