MOUNT OLIVE - Mount Olive women's indoor track & field claimed both weekly awards following standout performances at the Pre-National Championship meet, as
Haniyyah Johnson and
Janara Bryant were recognized for their efforts.
Johnson, a senior from Farmville, Virginia, was named Women's Indoor Track & Field Field Athlete of the Week after posting a pair of NCAA provisional marks. She clocked an 8.55 in the 60-meter hurdles to place seventh overall, while also recording a 7.53 in the 60-meter dash.
Bryant earned Track Athlete of the Week honors after a record-setting showing in the triple jump. The sophomore from Beaufort, North Carolina finished runner-up with a leap of 12.51 meters, breaking the Mount Olive school record in the event. Her mark also met the NCAA provisional standard.
The next competition for the Mount Olive track & field team will be the Conference Carolinas Indoor Championships, scheduled for Feb. 22–23 in Winston-Salem.
