Mount Olive Women Win 2026 Conference Carolinas Championship

WINSTON-SALEM – Three major award winners, nine individual conference champions and multiple broken records, the University of Mount Olive women's track & field program captures the 2026 Conference Carolinas Indoor Track & Field Championships for the second year in a row while competing at the JDL Fast Track.

Freshman Serenity Harvey made her presence known in her first career championship meet after being named Freshman of the Year. Harvey tallied a 18 points toward the team standings for the Trojans. She established a new conference and meet record in the 200 meters with a blazing pace of 23.98 seconds, breaking former Freshman of the year and teammates record, to be named new league queen in the event.

For the second year in a row Sophomore Janara Bryant has been named Field Athlete of the Year following a total of 26 points over three events at the Conference Carolinas Championship. Bryant got on the podium for all three of her events, including one championship. In the triple jump, she set a new meet and conference record following a distance of 12.65 meters to claim the conference crown. Additionally, Bryant secured the second place spot in the High Jump with a leap of 1.61 meters and a second place spot in the long jump with a distance of 5.87 meters.

Head coach Earl Graves was named the Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year for the fifth time in his career in women's indoor track & field as well and getting the award for men's track & field.

The Trojans scored 230.5 total points and scored in 15 of the 17 events that were held. Mount Olive set six conference records and six meet records at this championship. UMO scored 121 more points than runner-up Converse who had 109.5 points while North Greenville finished with 55 points to take third.

Senior Haniyyah Johnson produced a dominant performance at the indoor championships with 34 points toward the team standings after winning two league crowns and a runner-up finish in the shot put. Johnson finished first with a conference and meet record in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.64 seconds. she placed third in the 60 meters with a time of 7.50 seconds. In the field she placed first in the long jump with a leap of 6.09 meters and her runner up throw in the shot put was 13.38 meters.

Three trojans contributed to the scoreboard in the 60 meter, Sophomore Futoria Harris was runner up while Johnson took third. In the 200 meter five mount olive athletes took scoring spots, the top four being Harvey, Junior Heavan Roberts (24.31), Senior Essence Slate (24.48), and Harris (24.51).

In the 400 meter, Slate took first with a time of 55.25 seconds and Harvey was runner-up with a time of 55.65 seconds. Senior, Ruby Cofone contributed a point for the Trojans in the 800 meters alongside sophomore Alex White who contributed a point in the mile.

The women controlled in the 4x400 meter relay gaining a whole 7.8 seconds. Slate, Roberts, Harvey, and sophomore Macie Inman ran a time of 3:48.95.

In the women's distance medley White, Trinity Hine, Cofone, and sophomore Danielle Johnston placed fourth with a time of 12:55.93 minutes.

Pole vault had two women score freshman Audrey Nelson with a vault of 3.22 meters to place second and senior Trinity Frayer placed fifth.

In the long jump, the Trojans swept scoring 30 of the 39 possible points. Johnson placed first, Bryant placed second, Slate fourth, Senior Keza Green fifth, Charlotte Boehm seventh, and freshman Serenitie Johnson eighth.  

The podium for triple jump was taken over by Mount Olive with Bryant placing first with a leap of 12.65 meters, Green second with a distance of 12.19 meters, and S. Johnson rounding off the podium with a jump of 11.62 meters.

For the throws, sophomore Jasmine Colwell threw a first place distance of 13.67 meters and H. Johnson placing second. In the weight throw, Cynthia Thomas placed first with a throw of 16.28 meters and Isabelle Grena threw a third place mark of 15.81 meters.

Transfer Sara Lydsdottir, placed in the pentathlon with a mark of 3448 gaining 10 points for the trojans with this win.
