Box Score BANNER ELK - The Mount Olive men's volleyball team continued its strong run of play on Friday, defeating conference foe Lees-McRae in four sets, 25-19, 25-13, 22-25, 25-21, to extend its winning streak to three matches.
The Trojans controlled much of the contest against the Lees-McRae Bobcats, using a balanced offensive attack and a dominant performance at the net to secure the 3-1 victory. The win follows recent triumphs over Fort Valley State (3-1) and Charleston (3-2), highlighting Mount Olive's momentum heading deeper into conference play.
Offensively, Brooks Ignosci and Kory Grant paced the Trojans with 11 kills apiece. Ignosci posted a .320 hitting percentage, recording just three errors on 25 total attacks, while Grant was highly efficient, hitting .417 with only one error on 24 swings. Matthew Ekberg and Christos Savvidis added six kills each to round out the Mount Olive attack.
Setter Jackson Lahey orchestrated the offense with 31 assists, helping the Trojans hit above .300 in three of the four sets, including marks of .316 in set two, .393 in set three, and .375 in the decisive fourth set. Mount Olive also capitalized on 20 Lees-McRae attacking errors, consistently applying pressure throughout the match.
Defensively, the Trojans were dominant at the net, outblocking the Bobcats 7-1 in block solos and 4-2 in block assists. Freshman Jake Bedoya turned in an impressive performance with three block solos and one block assist, while Grant anchored the back row with a team-high eight digs.
With the victory, the Mount Olive Trojans improved its form heading into the weekend. The Trojans will return to action tomorrow morning against King Tornado at 10 a.m. in Bristol, Tennessee.
