Trojans Sweep Lees-McRae, Advance to Conference Carolinas Championship

BELMONT – The University of Mount Olive men's volleyball team delivered a dominant performance in the semifinal round of the 2026 Conference Carolinas Men's Volleyball Championship, sweeping Lees-McRae 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-19) on Saturday at the Wheeler Center.

Mount Olive controlled the match from the outset, hitting an efficient .270 as a team while holding Lees-McRae to just .072. The Trojans were especially sharp in the opening set, posting a .353 hitting percentage and cruising to a 25-15 win before closing out the match in straight sets.

Offensively, the Trojans were led by Kory Grant, who recorded a team-high nine kills on a .467 hitting percentage. Brooks Ignosci added seven kills. Maksim Kazanov also played a key role with nine kills, three service aces and three block assists.

Jackson Lahey orchestrated the offense with 24 assists and defensively Mount Olive totaled 9.5 team blocks, with multiple players contributing at the net, while also adding eight service aces to keep Lees-McRae out of system.

The Trojans maintained control throughout, posting strong sideout percentages, including an impressive 81 percent in the opening set, and never allowed Lees-McRae to gain sustained momentum.

With the victory, Mount Olive advances to the championship match, where it will face Belmont Abbey on Sunday at 3 p.m. The title contest will take place at the Wheeler Center in Belmont, North Carolina.
