The University of Mount Olive Trojans delivered strong performances across the board, highlighted by multiple victories, personal improvements, and a conference record at the VCU Rams Invitatioinal.
On the women's side,
Futoria Harris led the Trojans with a dominant win in the 60 meters, clocking 7.50 to take first place, and followed with a second-place finish in the 200 meters at 24.76.
Serenity Harvey continued the momentum by qualifying in the 60 meters (7.74) and capturing first place in the 200 meters with a winning time of 24.55.
Haniyyah Johnson added a third-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles at 8.61 and qualified in the 200 meters with a time of 25.65.
Heavan Roberts placed fifth in the 200 meters, running 24.98, while
Essence Slate posted a season-best 25.52 in the 200 meters, marking an improvement and moving into eighth place on the all-time list.
In the field events,
Isabelle Grena recorded an improved throw of 15.55 meters in the weight throw to place fifth and rank ninth all-time.
Janara Bryant was impressive in the jumps, qualifying and finishing fourth in the long jump at 5.57 meters before winning the triple jump with a mark of 12.29.
Jasmine Colwell earned third place in the shot put with an improved throw of 13.29.
Keza Green claimed second place in the triple jump at 11.87, which ranks third all-time, while
Serenitie Johnson placed sixth with an improved mark of 11.32, advancing her position on the all-time list. The women's 4x400 relay team of
Essence Slate,
Heavan Roberts,
Macie Inman, and
Serenity Harvey closed the meet with a strong second-place finish in 3:56.27.
For the men competing, the Trojans also posted notable results.
Jamavie Glover ran an improved 6.89 in the 60 meters to place eighth, while
Leland Smith recorded an improved performance as well.
Leo Powell qualified in the mile and finished sixth with a time of 4:25.98.
Sigursteinn Asgeirsson delivered a standout performance in the shot put, winning the event with a throw of 16.68 meters, setting a new conference record.
Chris Harris placed fifth in the weight throw at 15.99,
Adam Turner finished seventh in the shot put with an improved mark of 14.27, and
Matthew Heywood placed eighth in the weight throw at 15.54. JJ Durbin also recorded an improvement in the weight throw at 14.41.
The men's 4x400 relay team of
Travelius Leach,
Zion Richardson-Keys,
Zachary Broadus, and
Henry Bullock finished sixth with a time of 3:21.92, rounding out a successful meet for the Mount Olive Trojans.
