The Mount Olive men's and women's track and field team turned in a strong showing at the Marlin Invitational in Virginia Beach, Va. posting multiple event wins, school records, Provo marks, and all-time performances across the weekend.
The men opened the meet with speed in the sprints, led by
Jamavie Glover, who placed third in the 60 meters (6.89), just ahead of
Leland Smith, who finished fourth (6.93). In the 200 meters,
Jason Hart claimed second place (21.81), while
Zion Richardson-Keys followed closely in fourth (21.87). Hart also added a strong performance in the 400 meters, running 49.84 to qualify and move into 10th all-time in program history.
The highlight of the meet came from
Henry Bullock, who captured first place in the 400 meters with a school-record time of 48.11, a Provo mark that cemented his status as one of the meet's top performers.
Travelius Leach added depth in the event with a season-best 49.12 for fourth place.
Middle-distance success continued as
Leo Powell ran 1:58.67 in the 800 meters to place third and qualify, while
Titus Tanui posted a season-best 1:59.89. In the mile,
Artem Meltsaiev dominated the field, winning in 4:28.37.
The field events were equally impressive.
Zion Richardson-Keys placed second in the long jump (6.70), while
Kavon Poindexter cleared a season-best 1.99 meters in the high jump for second place, ranking fifth all-time.
Kobe Jones also qualified in the high jump with a clearance of 1.84.
In the throws,
Sigursteinn Asgeirsson, won the shot put with a mark of 16.32 meters.
Antoine King placed fourth in the shot put (14.74), ranking sixth all-time, and followed with a win in the weight throw at 17.86, good for third all-time.
Chris Harris finished second in the weight throw with a season-best 16.12, while
Adam Turner placed fourth (15.39).
The men closed the meet strong in the horizontal jumps, with
Wonderful Fadipe winning the triple jump (13.59) and qualifying. Drew McClamb followed in second (13.47, Q), and
Andrew Pender placed fourth (13.40).
The women's team delivered standout performances across the sprints, jumps, and throws as well, led by
Futoria Harris. Harris swept the short sprints, winning the 60 meters (7.59) and the 200 meters (24.49), both Provo marks.
The 200 meters was a strength for the squad, as
Serenity Harvey placed second (24.57, Provo),
Heavan Roberts finished third (24.72, Provo), and
Essence Slate ran a season-best 24.79 for fourth, moving into fifth all-time. In the 400 meters, Slate captured first place with a season-best 57.51, ranking fourth all-time. Roberts followed in second (57.63), qualifying and moving into fifth all-time, while Harvey placed third (57.87).
Distance events also produced solid results, with
Danielle Johnston finishing second in the mile (5:33.96).
The women's field events were highlighted by
Janara Bryant, who won the long jump with a Provo mark of 6.05, ranking second all-time. Bryant also placed second in the high jump (1.45), alongside Charlotte Bohm, who matched the same height for second place.
Keza Green added a second-place finish in the long jump (5.71), a season best and fourth all-time, and won the triple jump with a Provo mark of 11.88, ranking third all-time.
Serenitie Johnson placed fourth in the triple jump (11.00).
In the pole vault,
Audrey Nelson claimed first place with a season-best clearance of 3.05, ranking second all-time. The throws rounded out the meet with Cynthia Johnson winning the weight throw (15.64), a season best and eighth all-time in NCAA for this season.
Jasmine Colwell placed third (13.96), while
Isabelle Grena finished fourth in both the shot put (10.56) and weight throw (13.90).
Your Trojans will be competing at the JDL Fast Track for more indoor track and field action February 6-7 in the Camel City Relays.
