Both Bernier and Jagiella Win Singles Finals at Methodist Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE - On the final day of the Methodist Invitational, Nina Bernier and Julie Jagiella each garnered singles finals victories.

In flight one, Simone Szovan defeated Jennika Jaison (Averett) 6-2, 6-3 in the quarterfinals. Bernier then beat Ravaka Noemie Ramanatoanina (Averett) 7-5, 6-4 before edging Szovan 5-7, 6-4, (10-8).

In flight two, Victoria Calle topped Emma Hulicki (Methodist) 6-2, 6-3 before falling to Siddhi Khot (Averett) 6-4, 2-6, (8-10) in the finals.

In flight three, Jagiella defeated Eulalia Pascual Biosca 6-3, 6-2 to reach the final, where she won over Annika Kellerer (Averett) 6-2, 6-2.

In flight four, Alina Esser fell to Sunna Maass (Averett) 6-2, 6-2 in the semifinals.

Mount Olive competes next at the ITA Tournament in Sumter, S.C., from Friday, Sept. 26 to Monday, Sept. 29.
