PUEBLO, Colo. (March 24) – On the final day of the 2025 NCAA Division II National Championship, the University of Mount Olive women's track & field program featured two All-Americans in the triple jump as freshman
Janara Bryant and senior
Karla Hormazabal earned the honor on Saturday afternoon at the Thunderbowl.
As a team, Mount Olive tied for 30th in the team standings with eight points, marking the sixth time in program history the Trojans posted a team score at the national meet.
Bryant finished as the national runner-up in the triple jump following a school record mark of 13.27 meters to place second overall. She made program history by becoming just the second-ever UMO Women's Track & Field athlete to post a second-place finish at the NCAA Division II Championship. Bryant delivered a stellar performance after eclipsing her personal-best mark twice and holding the lead in the triple jump until the final jump of the competition. Additionally, her mark of 13.27 meters ranks 19th all-time in NCAA Division II under the criteria of any wind reading.
She concludes one of the best freshman campaigns in program history after becoming a two-time First-Team All-American. She placed sixth overall in the triple jump during the indoor season before her runner-up finish in the outdoor campaign. In her first season with the program, Bryant was a four-time USTFCCCA All-Region recipient, the indoor Conference Carolinas Field Athlete of the Year, and the outdoor Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year.
A native of Orlando, Florida, Hormazabal secured Second-Team All-American honors in the final collegiate meet with the Trojans. She produced a personal-best distance of 12.60 meters on her final attempt to capture 11th place in the event. In three appearances on the national stage, Hormazabal delivered her best performance and finish on Saturday. At Mount Olive, she finishes her career as a five-time USTFCCCA All-Region honoree and a two-time Conference Carolinas Champion in the indoor triple jump.
