INDIANAPOLIS (May 1) – The University of Mount Olive baseball team was ranked No. 9 in the Southeast Region when the NCAA Division II Baseball Committee unveiled the first ranked order of the regional rankings on Wednesday.
The NCAA regional rankings determine the participants for the NCAA Tournament. The Southeast Region consists of the Conference Carolinas (CC), the South Atlantic Conference (SAC), and the Peach Belt Conference (PBC). All three conference tournament champions receive an automatic bid with the top-four remaining teams in the final regional rankings receiving at-large bids.
Catawba, the SAC regular season champions, were the top ranked program in the poll with a 36-12 overall record and will look to return to Cary after winning the region in 2024. North Greenville ranks second overall in the poll and boast the third-best RPI with a 42-11 mark. Lenoir-Rhyne (40-9) sits third with the second-best RPI while Young Harris (37-13) and North Georgia (36-13) round out the top five.
Belmont Abbey (34-14), Carson-Newman (35-15), UNC Pembroke (28-20), Mount Olive (29-19), and Francis Marion (39-11) completed the regional rankings.
The Trojans sits 10th in the latest RPI while holding the toughest strength of schedule in the region.
