PEMBROKE, N.C. (April 5) – The University of Mount Olive women's track & field program collected four victories this weekend while competing in the 2025 Braves Classic hosted by UNC Pembroke at the Dick & Lenore Taylor Track.
Senior
Kiwanna Pemberton recorded a season-best time of 14.44 seconds to win the 100-meter hurdles on Saturday. Fellow senior
Tylyia Triggs finished third overall with a time of 14.84 seconds.
In the 400-meter hurdles, freshman
Amiliana Simmons secured first place after crossing the line in 1:05.82. Sophomore
Keianna Mims finished as the runner-up in the event with a time of 1:07.41, while Pemberton posted a qualifying time of 1:09.30 to place fourth. Sophomore
Brianna Davis earned fifth in the 400mh with a mark of 1:12.29.
Freshman
Sanyiah Shields captured first place in the 100 meters with a time of 12.17 seconds.
Junior
Ruby Cofone registered an event victory in the 800 meters with a time of 2:31.90, while freshman
Alex White (2:36.51) and freshman
Alyssa Callihan (2:56.55) finished second and third, respectively.
Sophomore
MacKenna Gallon finished as a runner-up in the javelin with a mark of 30.03 meters, while sophomore
Peyton Bucher tossed 28.18 meters to record a third-place finish.
In the hammer throw, senior
Rolanda Desir-Moreau placed second overall with a toss of 48.61 meters. Freshman
Isabelle Grena finished third overall with a season-best distance of 48.59 meters. Bucher recorded a season-best mark of 42.87 meters in the event to place sixth, while senior
Kaitlin Kenan earned an eighth-place finish behind a distance of 40.25 meters.
Junior
Essence Slate crossed the line in 25.81 seconds to earn third, while freshman
Joella Smith claimed fourth with a time of 26.24 seconds.
Fellow junior
Ashley Lindsey placed fourth in the shot put with a toss of 11.72 meters.
Grena produced a season-best distance in the discus of 36.01 meters to finish fifth overall.
Mount Olive will host the Trojan Relays next weekend on April 11-12 at the Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex.
