PEMBROKE, N.C. (April 5) – Freshman
Jacoby Pevia reached the NCAA provisional mark in the 100 meters, as the University of Mount Olive men's track & field program competed at the Braves Classic on Saturday.
Pevia posted a personal best time of 10.42 seconds in the preliminaries of the 100 meters, which eclipsed the NCAA standard. In the finals, he crossed the line in 10.48 seconds to claim first place in the event. His prelim mark is the fastest-time in the Conference Carolinas this season.
In the long jump, sophomore
Zacharie Fedelus earned a second-place finish with a leap of 6.80 meters while junior
Kobe Jones finished third with a mark of 6.74 meters. Freshman
Leland Smith placed fourth overall with a jump of 6.67 meters.
Fellow junior
Brendin Marks delivered a runner-up finish in the triple jump with a distance of 14.07 meters. Additionally, junior
Andrew Pender captured third place with a leap of 13.67 meters.
In the discus, sophomore
Jaylin Durbin claimed second place with a mark of 43.83 meters in the discus, while freshman
Caleb Bass finished third with a distance of 43.72 meters.
Sophomore
Adam Turner secured third with a season-best toss of 14.38 meters, and Durbin placed fourth with a distance of 13.67 meters. Additionally, Turner captured a third-place finish in the hammer throw with a season-best mark of 50.38 meters.
Junior
Kavon Poindexter registered a second-place finish in the high jump following a season-best clearance of 1.95 meters.
Additionally, in the 100 meters, freshman
Savion Kinard finished seventh overall with a time of 10.79 seconds, while Smith posted a season-best time of 10.76 seconds. Kinard also competed in the 200m and crossed the line seventh with a time of 22.15 seconds.
Sophomore
Evan Hall produced a fourth-place finish in the 5000 meters with a time of 16:24.69 before finishing eighth in the 1500 meters with a mark of 4:24.43. Freshman
Titus Tanui also competed in the 1500m and placed seventh with a time of 4:23.69
Senior
Christopher Kirksey registered a time of 49.42 seconds to earn fifth in the 400 meters, which is his season-best mark.
Freshman
Emanuel Oxendine finished sixth in the 110-meter hurdles after crossing the line in 16.55 seconds.
Junior
Zyshone White delivered a toss of 40.32 meters to place sixth in the javelin.

Mount Olive will host the Trojan Relays next weekend on April 11-12 at the Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex.
