KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (April 5) – The University of Mount Olive track & field program traveled a select group to the highly competitive Tennessee Invite and delivered four NCAA provisional marks over the two-day event in the Volunteer State.
The Trojans featured two impressive feats this weekend as the freshman duo of
Janara Bryant and
Amari Noble reached the qualifying standard for the USA Track & Field (USATF) U20 Championships.
Bryant reached the NCAA standard and set a new UMO record in the triple jump after clearing 12.77 meters to place third overall. Her mark ranks second in NCAA Division II this season and eclipses the 12.50m USATF U20 qualifying mark. Additionally, Bryant also finished sixth in the long jump with a leap of 5.91 meters, which would have been a provisional mark and new school record but exceeded the wind limit.
Noble unleashed an impressive toss of 54.04 meters in the hammer throw to finish fourth in the field and hit the NCAA standard for the first time in his career. He ranks eighth in NCAA Division II following his performance and sits second all-time in the event at UMO. The mark set by Noble also surpassed the USATF U20 mark of 51.50m.
