Kobe Jones and freshman
Amari Noble secured individual league crowns on Friday afternoon, as the University of Mount Olive men's track & field team jumped into the lead in the standings following Day 2 of Conference Carolinas Championship.
In the team standings, Mount Olive tallied 58 points during the second day of competition, including a pair of victories, to build a total of 82 points. UNC Pembroke fell to second place with 55 points while Belmont Abbey rounded out the top three with 29 points.
Jones delivered a league-best leap of 7.16 meters on his third attempt to capture the conference title in the long jump. The dual sport athlete, who is a member of the men's basketball program, joined the program in the spring. Additional scorers in the event included sophomore
Zacharie Fedelus (5th, 6.81m) and junior
Andrew Pender (7th, 6.75m).
In the discus, the Trojans featured five individuals among the top-eight placements, scoring 24 of a possible 39 points. Noble collected the Conference Carolinas championship in the event following a toss of 52.69 meters on his third attempt. Junior
Tyrese Lavender placed fourth with a distance of 45.66 meters, while graduate student
Dominic Nutter posted a career-best mark of 44.64 meters. Senior
Nicholas Cloud finished sixth with a toss of 43.92 meters and sophomore
Jaylin Durbin registered a seven-lace finish with a distance of 43.90 meters.

Evan Hall delivers points in the 3000-meter steeplechase after placing fourth with a time of 9:55.30.
In the high jump, graduate student
Holden Gerth finished as the runner-up after clearing 1.99 meters, a season-best mark. Junior
Kavon Poindexter placed fourth with a mark of 1.94 meters.
