SPARTANBURG, S.C. (April 15) – Freshman Oscar Lönnqvist became just the third golfer in program history to claim individual medalist honors at the Conference Carolinas Championship on Tuesday, as the Trojans finished as the runner-up in the team standings at The Carolina Country Club.

Lonnqvist shot an even-par 72 during the final round with four birdies and nine pars to card a final score of three-under 213 (71-70-72). He joins exclusive company with Brice Ballin (2022) and John Thatch (2016) as the third individual medalist for Mount Olive while being the first UMO freshman ever to achieve the feat. Lonnqvist also captured All-Tournament honors in his first appearance at the league tournament. Over 54 holes of play, he totaled the second-most birdies in the field with 12 while converting 34 pars.
