Box Score 2 RALIEGH, N.C. (March 7) – Freshman
Linda Hodge pitched a no-hitter in the bottom of the seventh, as the Trojans secured a doubleheader sweep over Shaw on Friday afternoon, including a 6-0 shutout in Game 1 and an 11-2 victory in Game 2.
With the sweep, the University of Mount Olive softball program improves to 9-9 overall while playing exclusively on the road to begin the month of March. The Trojans return to Nancy Chapman Cassell Field on Sunday, March 9, for a doubleheader versus Millersville at 1 p.m. Meanwhile, Shaw drops to 2-5 overall after hosting their first home series of the year.
In Game 1, Hodge improved to 4-3 overall after tossing her second career complete-game shutout with a season-high eight strikeouts over 7.0 innings pitched. She retired the side in order four times while carrying a no-hitter into the final inning before surrendering only one hit in the frame.
After two scoreless frames, senior Alyssa Smother drew a leadoff walk before advancing to third on a stolen base and an infield single. With no outs, sophomore
McKenzie Millard registered an RBI on a ground out to the pitcher, 1-0. Mount Olive brought two additional runs across in the top of the fourth after scoring on an error and RBI ground out by Smothers, 3-0.

Emily Saw produced an RBI on a ground out to score fellow freshman
Liz Thome, 4-0. Later in the frame, freshman
Leah Russell registered a pair of RBIs to extend the lead to 6-0.
