WINSTON-SALEM (Feb. 24) – Behind four major award winners and nine individual conference champions, the University of Mount Olive women's track & field program captured the 2025 Conference Carolinas Indoor Track & Field Championship while competing at the JDL Fast Track.
Freshman
Futoria Harris made her presence known in her first career championship meet after being named the Track Athlete of the Year and Freshman of the Year. She becomes just the second-ever individual to capture both awards in the same year, joining Leah Hanle of Mount Olive, who achieved the accolade in 2016-17. Harris tallied a perfect 20 points toward the team standings for the Trojans. She established a new conference and meet record in the 200 meters with a blistering pace of 24.24 seconds to win the league crown in the event. Harris also set the meet record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.44 seconds to earn first place.
Fellow freshman
Janara Bryant delivered one of the best all-around performances in recent history at the Conference Carolinas Championship after totaling 26 points over three events of competition. She was voted the Field Athlete of the Year after reaching the podium three times, including a pair of Conference Carolinas Championship. On Monday, she set a new meet record in the triple jump following a distance of 12.26 meters to claim the conference crown. Additionally, Bryant secured third place in the high jump after clearing 1.58 meters.
Head coach
Earl Graves was named the Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year for the fourth time in his career in women's indoor track & field.
The Trojans scored 134 points on the final day of the league meet while scoring in 11 of a possible 17 events to finish first overall with 197 points. Mount Olive set one Conference Carolinas record, eight NCAA provisional marks, and three meet records at the league meet. Converse placed second in the team standings with 137 points while North Greenville finished third with 73 points.
Junior
Channie Jefferson produced a dominant performance at the indoor championships with 28 total points toward the team standings after winning two league crowns and a runner-up finish in the long jump. On Monday, she crossed the line in 8.67 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles to earn first place before securing victory in the 400 meters with a time of 56.81 seconds.
Junior
Haniyyah Johnson captured her first-ever Conference Carolinas title in the shot put with a toss of 11.91 meters.
Freshman
Linn Andrea Lindevik also claimed her first league crown after winning the 800 meters with a time of 2:25.05.
