GREENVILLE, S.C. (Oct. 23) – After two athletes went third and fourth place in NCWWC Qualifiers, the University of Mount Olive women's wrestling program was selected second overall in the inaugural preseason Conference Carolinas poll. This was released on Thursday.
Mount Olive has quickly emerged as one of the top programs in the country for women's wrestling, featuring three All-Americans and now 12 national qualifiers in its last three years of competing.
Dan Willis is going on his fourth season as head coach for women's wrestling.
Wrestlers to Watch
- Journey Land, RS-Sr., 180 lbs., Little Rock, Arkansas (2022 NCWWC All American, 2023 NCWWC National Qualifier)
- Ayonna McNeill, Jr., 124 lbs., Fayetteville, North Carolina (2024 NCWWC National Qualifier, 2025 NCWWC National Qualifier)
- Lily Prendergast, So., 103 lbs., Southport, North Carolina (2025 NCWWC National Qualifier, 2x Conference Freshman of the Month)
King was voted first its second year in a row with 45 total votes (teams can't vote for themselves). Mount Olive was selected second with Emmanuel to follow in third. Allen and Emory & Henry rounded out the top five in a newly formed league that will feature eight programs.
Mount Olive begins the 2025-26 season on Sunday, Nov. 2, as the team goes to the East Stroudsburg Open at Koehler Fieldhouse, starting at 9 a.m.
