LEXINGTON, Va. (Jan. 25) – The sophomore trio of
Sigursteinn Asgeirsson,
Zacharie Fedelus, and
Ryan Wilson-McCoy set NCAA Provisional marks over the weekend, as the University of Mount Olive men's track & field program competed at the VMI Invitational.
Asgeirsson hit the NCAA mark in the shot put for the first time in this indoor campaign, following a toss of 16.57 meters on his final attempt to place second overall. The mark sits second all-time in program history and ranked second in the Southeast Region. Additionally, senior
Nicholas Cloud placed sixth in the event with a distance of 15.07 meters.
In the long jump, Fedelus placed third overall and set the NCAA standard for the first time with a leap of 7.22 meters on his second attempt, which ranks third all-time at Mount Olive. Junior
Brendin Marks placed fifth in the event with a distance of 7.01 meters, the sixth-best mark in program history. Freshman
Wonderful Fadipe hit the league-qualifying mark in the long jump with a leap of 6.51 meters.
Wilson-McCoy established an NCAA Provo for the third time this season in the triple jump with a distance of 14.87 meters to place third overall. Sophomore
Princeton Loch matched his season-best mark of 13.36 meters while competing in Virginia.
Junior
Jason Hart claimed a first-place finish in the 200-meter dash after crossing the line in 21.67 seconds, which ranks second in the Conference Carolinas.
In the weight throw, senior
Micah Harrison improved his conference-best mark with a toss of 16.05 meters to place sixth overall, which also sits third in the Southeast Region. Freshman
Caleb Bass placed 10th in the field following a distance of 15.09 meters.
Freshman
Leland Smith improved his league-qualifying mark in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.90 seconds in the semifinals before placing sixth in the final. He also established a conference standard in the long jump with a leap of 6.57 meters.

Kavon Poindexter posted a league standard in the high jump and placed fifth after clearing 1.90 meters.
Willcox finished sixth overall in the 800 meters and hit the conference standard with a time of 1:56.82, which ranks sixth all-time at UMO.
Graduate student
Brian Saul secured a sixth-place finish in the 300 meters after crossing the line in 35.18 seconds.
Mount Olive will compete from Jan. 31 to Feb. 1 at the South Carolina Invitational in Columbia, South Carolina.
