BRISTOL, Tenn. (Jan. 19) – Freshman O'marzria Wright and sophomore Savannah Bramhall secured spots on the podium on Sunday, as the University of Mount Olive women's wrestling program returned to individual competition at the Tornado Open.

The Trojans featured 12 wrestlers across all 10 weight classes while competing individually for the first time since mid-November. Wright captured her third podium finish in her first year of collegiate wrestling and Bramhall collected her second podium finish this season.

In the 110-weight class, Wright secured a runner-up finish after posting a 3-1 record on Sunday. In the opening round, she registered a 6-3 win via decision over Ryleigh Hayes of Cumberland before pinning Kaia Stewart in the first round. Wright advanced to the finals with a 12-1 tech fall versus Elle Webster of Frostburg State. In the championship, she fell via a 15-4 tech fall to No. 6 ranked Dianna Holmes of King to place second overall.

Bramhall registered a 4-1 record in the 160-weight class to place third overall while competing in Tennessee. Following an opening-round bye, she collected back-to-back falls over Isabell Kessey of West Liberty and Kylee Tait of Campbellsville. Bramhall dropped the semifinal bout to Ariel Maicon via an 18-8 tech fall before earning a fall against Sierra Chavez of Campbellsville in the consolation bracket. In the third-place match, she won by no contest to claim her position on the podium.

Sophomore Ayonna McNeill delivered a competitive performance with a 3-2 record behind a pair of tech falls and a decision at 124. She suffered a first-round loss before responding with three straight wins in the consolation brackets. McNeill posted a 15-5 tech fall over Addison Rudolph of Campbellsville before defeating Malia Burkhardt of Campbellsville via a 7-4 decision. She produced a dominant 11-0 tech fall against Danielle Burkhardt but fell in the semifinal to Jewelysa Funakosh of Emmanuel via fall.

In the 131-weight class, junior Chloe Lawler dropped her opening match by pin before countering with three consecutive victories in the consolation bracket. She recorded back-to-back 10-0 tech falls versus Sara Crosslin of Lindsey Wilson and Aryiana Reid of Huntington. Lawler produced a first-round fall over Camarie Cunningham of Cumberlands before falling to Isabell Hoffman of Emmanuel.

Sophomore Angelica Steffy registered a 3-2 in the 138-weight class after recording a pair of falls and a decision. She posted a fall in the opening round against Sierra Snodgrass of Schreiner before defeating Sophia Walls of Lincoln Memorial via a pin. In the quarterfinals, Steffy lost by fall to Sofia Vergara of Emmanuel but rebounded with a 7-4 decision versus Trinity Davis of Lindsey Wilson. She ultimately fell out of the tournament in the consolation bracket via a 12-2 tech fall to Isabella Hill.

Mount Olive will be idle for nearly two weeks before returning to the mat at the Bobcat Open on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 9 a.m.
