MOUNT OLIVE (May 11) – In the final meet of the outdoor season, the Trojans reached the podium seven times with one event victory while competing at the Mount Olive Final Qualifier at Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex on Saturday.
Senior Kamden Johnson was featured in three events for the Trojans and claimed an event win in the long jump while delivering a personal best in the triple jump. In the long jump, Johnson registered a mark of 6.82 meters on his second attempt to earn the individual crown. He placed third overall in the high jump after clearing 1.96 meters. In the triple jump, Johnson set a new personal record in the event with a leap of 13.80 meters to place fourth.
In the hammer throw, senior Dorian Tolbert hit the NCAA provisional standard on his fifth toss with a mark of 58.16 meters to claim third place. Fellow senior Alex Smith-Fort'e registered a sixth-place finish with a distance of 54.68 meters while junior Micah Harrison finished eighth with a mark of 51.97 meters.
Freshman Sigursteinn Asgeirsson delivered a toss of 15.91 meters on his second attempt in the shot put to finish third overall.
In the 400 meters, junior Christopher Kirksey recorded a second-place finish after crossing the line in 48.23 seconds. Fellow junior Brian Saul placed third in the event after posting a time of 48.61 seconds.
Freshman Timothy Richardson produced a fifth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles after recording a time of 55.34 seconds.
In the discus, sophomore Tyrese Lavender placed third with a mark of 45.38 meters on his second attempt on Saturday. Tolbert reached a distance of 43.52 meters to finish fourth overall while Harrison posted a sixth-place finish with a toss of 40.59 meters.
