GAINESVILLE, Ga. (May 11) – After shooting his lowest round on the final day, sophomore
Rasmus Ronnberg tied for 76th place while competing as an individual at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional at the Chattahoochee Golf Club this weekend.
Ronnberg carded a two-over 74 in the third round and leaped 16 positions on the individual leaderboard to tie for 76th with a final score of 11-over 227 (75-78-74). He converted three birdies on the front nine to shoot a two-under 34 while making back-to-back birdies to begin the day. Ronnberg made five pars on the back nine to card a four-over 40.
North Georgia led the event wire-to-wire and won by 10 strokes with a score of nine-under 855 (280-284-291) with four golfers in the top 20. Coker placed second overall after shooting a one-over 865 (287-283-295) while Lee and West Florida tied for third at nine-over 873. Wingate placed fifth overall with a score of 10-over 874 (292-294-288).
North Georgia graduate student Jack Vajda shot an impressive five-under 67 in the final round and claimed the individual title with a score of eight-under 208 (71-70-67).
The top five finishing teams and the top two student-athletes not with a team from the South/Southeast Regional advance to the finals. The finals will be hosted May 21-25 at Orange County National Golf Center in Winter Garden, Florida, by Rollins College and the Greater Orlando Sports Commission as part of the 2024 NCAA Division II Spring Sports Festival.
