MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (April 26) – Senior
Dorian Tolbert retained his individual crown in hammer throw on Friday, as the University of Mount Olive men's track & field team holds the top spot in the team standings after the opening day of the Conference Carolinas Outdoor Championships.
The Trojans recorded 50 points in the team standings at the league event with six events scored on Day 1. UMO scored in three of the sessions, including the hammer throw, long jump, and 3000 steeple. UNC Pembroke sits second with 35 points while Belmont Abbey rounds out the top three with 31 points.
In the hammer throw, Mount Olive featured five individuals in the top-eight scoring positions to capture 30 of a possible 39 points in the event. Tolbert secured back-to-back league titles in the hammer following a toss of 54.05 meters on his fifth attempt. Fellow senior
Alex Smith-Fort'e finished runner-up for a consecutive year with a distance of 53.86 meters. Junior
Micah Harrison placed third with a career-best mark of 52.99 meters while freshman
Adam Turner posted an eighth-place finish with a season-best toss of 43.49 meters.
Senior
Kamden Johnson placed second overall in the long jump with a career-best mark of 7.30 meters on his second attempt. Freshman
Zacharie Fedelus finished fifth overall with a leap of 6.90 meters and junior
Brendin Marks placed sixth with a distance of 6.84 meters. Sophomore
Josh Manning rounded out the scorers in eighth place with a mark of 6.70 meters.

Evan Hall delivered an impressive performance in the 3000 steeple after crossing the line with a time of 9:50.56 to finish fifth, which was a 20-second improvement.
Mount Olive returns to action at the Conference Carolinas Championships on Saturday, April 27, with events starting at 10:00 a.m.
