SPARTANBURG, S.C. (April 14) – Junior
Victoria Morelli sits in a tie for ninth overall on the individual leaderboard on Sunday following the opening round of play at the Conference Carolinas Championship, which is being held at the Carolina Country Club.
The University of Mount Olive women's golf program currently holds fifth place in the team standings with a 39-over 327. North Greenville leads with a significant 20-stroke advantage after firing an impressive 14-over 302 with three players in the top four. King and Converse are tied for second overall with a 34-over 322 after the initial 18 holes of play.
Morelli leads the Trojans with a seven-over 79 after the opening round and is tied for ninth overall in a field of 47 competitors. She tallied a team-high 10 pars with one birdie on the par four 10th hole and looks to collect back-to-back top-10 finishes at the league championship.
Freshman
Claire Beitel finished with a nine-over 81 and is tied for 17th overall while competing in South Carolina on Sunday. She ranked second on the team with nine pars converted while making a birdie on the par three 15th. Fellow freshman
Valentina Agostino sits just outside the top 20 after carding an 11-over 83 with eight pars and one birdie on the par three 12th hole.
Freshman
Lucie Levet posted a 12-over 84 to tie for 30th place after the first day of competition. She finished with eight pars while converting a birdie on the par four 16th. Sophomore
Violette Daudin is tied for 38th overall with a 15-over 87 and made eight pars.
Emmanuel sophomore Mara Martinez holds the individual lead after carding five birdies, including four on the back nine to shoot even-par 72.
The Trojans return to action at the Conference Carolinas Championships tomorrow, Monday, April 15, with tee times at 8:30 a.m.
