MOUNT OLIVE/DURHAM, N.C. (April 13) – Senior
Dorian Tolbert hit the NCAA Provisional Standard in the hammer throw this weekend, as the Trojans claimed six victories over the weekend while competing at the Trojan Relays and Duke Invitational.
In the hammer throw on Saturday, Tolbert reached the NCAA mark and captured first place following a career-best mark of 58.53 meters, which ranks second all-time at UMO and first in the Conference Carolinas this season. Junior
Israel Long placed second overall in the event with a season-best distance of 52.21 meters, while freshman
Adam Turner finished sixth and hit the qualifying standard with a mark of 42.44 meters.
Sophomore
Jason Hart claimed first place in the 200 meters with a career-best time of 21.28 seconds, which ranks third all-time at Mount Olive and second in the Conference Carolinas this year. Junior
Christopher Kirksey posted a second-place finish with a time of 21.61 seconds, which was a personal record, and sits fifth all-time at UMO. Junior
Brian Saul took third place in the event after setting a career-best time of 21.95 seconds.
Junior
Riley Willcox registered a first-place finish in the 800 meters after crossing the line with a time of 1:56.96, which is a season-best and ranks seventh in the conference.
Freshman
Timothy Richardson secured the event victory in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.69 seconds.
In the shot put, freshman
Sigursteinn Asgeirsson delivered a first-place finish with a mark of 16.00 meters, while junior
Nicholas Cloud placed fourth with a mark of 14.96 meters. Tolbert recorded a fifth-place finish and reached the qualifying standard with a toss of 13.96 meters.
Freshman
Evan Hall produced an event win in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a season-best time of 10:10.84, which ranks seventh in the league this year. Senior
Nathanael Bierly finished third overall in the event with a time of 10:27.05.
In the 110-meter hurdles, Richardson placed second overall with a conference-best time of 14.92 seconds, which sits fourth all-time at UMO. Freshman
Khairi Steadman finished fourth overall after crossing the line in 15.04 seconds to hit the qualifying mark and set the fifth-best time in program history.
Senior
Kamden Johnson delivered a second-place finish in the long jump with a distance of 7.15 meters, which ranks second in the Conference Carolinas and fourth all-time at Mount Olive. Freshman
Zacharie Fedelus placed third overall with a season-best mark of 6.79 meters.
In the 4x100-meter relay, the team of Steadman, Hart, Saul, and Kirksey placed third with a time of 41.73 seconds, which ranks fourth in the Conference Carolinas.
Johnson placed second in the high jump with a mark of 2.03 meters in the high jump, while sophomore
Kavon Poindexter finished third with a mark of 1.98 meters.
Kirksey delivered a third-place finish in the triple jump and hit the league qualifying mark with a distance of 14.00 meters in the triple jump.
In the discus, junior
Micah Harrison claimed third place with a toss of 43.77 meters, which ranks eighth all-time at Mount Olive. Asgeirsson registered a fourth-place finish with a distance of 42.83 meters.
Bierly also competed in the 400-meter hurdles and placed fourth after crossing the line with a time of 58.82 seconds.
Sophomore
Zyshone White placed fifth overall in the javelin with a toss of 40.72 meters.
At Duke, freshman
Ryan Wilson-McCoy produced a fifth-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 14.34 meters.
The Trojans return to action next week at the USC Open in Columbia, South Carolina, on Saturday, April 20.
