Samantha Miller and sophomore
Jada Arnold earned All-American status on Friday, as the University of Mount Olive women's wrestling program competed on the opening day of the National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Coalition (NCWWC) National Championships hosted at the Alliant Energy Power House.
In the team standings, the Trojans currently sit 14th overall with 25.5 points after featuring a pair of All-Americans and recording 10 victories. North Central (IL) holds the top position in the team standings with 127.5 points while Iowa (113.0) and King (104.5) round out the top three.
Miller achieved All-American honors for the fourth time in her career after transferring from Presbyterian to join the Trojans this year. She becomes just the second women's wrestler to garner the honor in program history. Miller has officially advanced to Day 2 at nationals and can still place as high as 3rd overall in the competition. On the mat at 109, she produced a 3-1 record with a pair of wins coming via technical fall. Miller delivered an opening round 10-0 tech fall over Ivy Threatful of Simon Fraser before defeating Adriana Gomez of Colorado Mesa by a 10-0 tech fall. In the quarterfinal, she fell to No. 1 ranked Kendra Ryan of North Central before answering back with a pin against Abby Dukeof Elmira.
Arnold is the first UMO women's wrestler to become a two-time All-American in program history after earning the status as a freshman in 2023. She will also compete on Day 2 at the NCWWC Nationals and can place as high as third in the 191-weight class. After suffering an opening-round loss, Arnold responded with three straight wins in the consolation bracket on Friday. She earned a late fall over Zoe Adam of Sioux Falls before delivering a first-period fall over Brittney Reed of Emory & Henry. In her final bout of the day, Arnold produced a dominant 9-2 decision versus Sydney Manos of Aurora.
In the 136-weight class, freshman
Angelica Steffy registered an impressive performance in her debut at nationals. Following a loss in the championship bracket, she answered back with a first-period pin against Raya Carpenter of Huntington before posting a 12-2 tech fall versus Livier Dubon of Texas Women's University. In the blood round, Steffy was pinned by No. 8 ranked Lilly Luft of Iowa to finish the event with a 2-2 mark.
Sophomore
Nia Miranda also had an outstanding performance for the Trojans at the NCWWC Nationals in Iowa. After a bye in the opening round, she suffered a loss via fall to No. 1 ranked Marlynne Deede of Iowa. In the consolation bracket, Miranda rallied with back-to-back victories after defeating Erin Martin of Tiffin by a 9-0 decision and recording a 9-2 decision against Ruby Rios of McKendree. In the blood round, she was pinned in the first period by No. 3 ranked Nina Maken of Augsburg to finish with a 2-2 record.

Brielle Bibla, and
Ayonna McNeill each made their first appearances at nationals but dropped out of the competition following consecutive losses.
Miller and Arnold will return for the second day of competition at the NCWWC National, which begins at 11:00 a.m.
