Lena DeFilippo totaled nine goals on Friday afternoon, as the University of Mount Olive women's lacrosse cruised past Young Harris by a final score of 15-4 in Conference Carolinas action while playing a neutral site contest on the campus of Newberry.
With the win, the Trojans extend their winning streak to six straight and improve to 9-2 this season behind a perfect 4-0 record in conference play. Mount Olive claims its 39th consecutive league win and holds a 3-0 record all-time against conference newcomer Young Harris. Meanwhile, the Mountain Lions drop to 5-7 overall with a 2-2 mark in league action.

Rileigh White and DeFilippo netted back-to-back goals to take an early 2-0 edge in the first quarter. Goalkeeper
Jane Hobbs kept the Mountain Lions scoreless in the first following three straight saves before freshman
Kayanna Bowden and Hamilton each found the back of the cage to hold a 4-0 advantage following the opening 15 minutes of the game. Young Harris got on the board in the initial minute of the second quarter to trail by a 4-1 margin before UMO scored a trio of goals in the span of less than two minutes, 7-1. Freshman
Caroline Clark scored on a free-position shot at the 13:27 mark, while Hamilton and DeFilippo each tallied their second goal of the game. In the closing minutes, DeFilippo completed her first-half hat trick before senior
Logan Hibbard found the back of the cage to take a 9-1 lead into halftime.
In the third quarter, the Mountain Lions cut the deficit to 9-2 in the opening minute before Hamilton finished off her hat trick with a goal at the 13:36 mark. The Trojan defense shut down the Young Harris attack for the remainder of the quarter and forced eight turnovers, while DeFilippo and Hamilton scored once again to stretch the lead to 12-2. Alexa Fitzgerald and Hamilton each registered a goal in the final minutes to secure a 15-4 win.
Hobbs recorded the win after collecting six saves on 16 shots faced in 60 minutes of action.
The Trojans return to non-conference play on Wednesday, April 3, when they travel to face Wingate at 3 p.m.
