MOUNT OLIVE (March 22) – Behind seven event victories and 13 qualifying league standards, Mount Olive hosted the seventh annual Adidas Trojan Challenge on Friday at the Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex.
In his outdoor debut, freshman
Ryan Wilson-McCoy delivered the top mark in the Conference Carolinas in the triple jump following a distance of 14.63 meters (48-0.00 feet) on his third attempt to register a first-place finish. He also moved to second overall in UMO history in the event.
Junior
Riley Willcox finished first overall in the 800 meters after crossing the line with a time of 1:59.45, while also delivering a second-place finish in 1500 meters with a league qualifying mark of 4:08.44.
In the long jump,
Kamden Johnson posted a first-place finish after reaching 7.10 meters (23-3.50 feet) on his final attempt and ranks second in the Conference Carolinas in the event. Freshman
Zacharie Fedelus hit the conference standard with a mark of 6.87 meters (22-6.50 feet), while sophomore
Josh Manning produced a distance of 6.61 meters (21-8.25 feet) to place sixth.

Sigursteinn Asgeirsson recorded a first-place finish with a toss of 15.92 meters (52-2.75 feet) and continues to boast the top mark in the Conference Carolinas. Junior
Nicholas Cloud improved his conference mark with a distance of 15.11 meters (49-7.00 feet) to take second overall.

Richard Villafranco delivered a first-place finish in the 3000 Steeplechase after crossing the line with a time of 10:23.85.

Micah Harrison took first place with a toss of 43.42 meters (142-5.00 feet) on his opening attempt and now holds the ninth-best mark in program history. Sophomore
Tyrese Lavender registered a second-place finish with a distance of 43.32 meters (142.100 feet), which was posted on his first attempt. Senior
Alex Smith-Fort'e hit the league mark in the event and finished third with a toss of 43.29 meters (142-0.00 feet), while freshman
Jaylin Durbin improved his mark with a distance of 40.87 meters (134-1.00 feet) to take seventh place.
Johnson also reached the podium in the high jump and hit conference standard after clearing 2.00 meters (6-6.75 feet) to finish second overall. Sophomore
Kavon Poindexter placed fourth in the event with a mark of 1.95 meters (6-4.75 feet), which ranks seventh all-time at UMO. Manning recorded a sixth-place finish after clearing 1.90 meters (6-2.75 feet), which sits 10th all-time for the Trojans.

Brendin Marks placed fifth overall with a mark of 13.30 meters (43-7.75 feet), while Fedelus produced a sixth-place finish and reached the league qualifying mark with a distance of 13.03 meters (42-9.00 feet)
In the hammer throw, senior
Dorian Tolbert finished second overall with a distance of 55.16 meters (181-0.00 feet), while Smith-Fort'e reached the league mark following a toss of 51.92 meters (170-4.00 feet) to place third. Freshman
Matthew Heywood posted a fourth-place finish with a mark of 50.06 meters (164-3.00 feet), which ranks eighth all-time at UMO. Senior
Israel Long improved his Conference Carolinas distance in the event after a toss of 49.45 meters (140-8.00 feet).
Hart hit the league standard in the 100 meters after crossing the line with a time of 10.94 seconds.
Richardson placed third overall in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.26 seconds to reach the conference mark and set the seventh-best time in UMO history.
In the 400 meters, Kirksey finished runner-up with a time of 48.03 seconds to qualify for the Conference Carolinas Championship while also posting the fourth-best mark all-time at UMO. Fellow junior
Brian Saul placed third overall and qualified in the event after crossing the line in 48.87 seconds, which ranks seventh all-time in program history.
Mount Olive returns to action next weekend on March 29-30 at the Hornet Open hosted by Lynchburg in Virginia.
