MOUNT OLIVE (March 13) – Freshman
Caroline Clark delivered the game-winning goal in double-overtime, as the University of Mount Olive women's lacrosse team sealed a 12-11 comeback victory over Slippery Rock in non-conference play at Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex.
With the win, the Trojans improve to 5-2 overall while securing back-to-back victories at home. In just the second-ever meeting between the sides, UMO remains undefeated against Slippery Rock after earning a 16-9 win back in 2015. Meanwhile, The Rock suffers its first loss of the season and drops to 3-1 this year.
Junior
Rileigh White scored the opening goal of the contest at the 12:23 mark of the first quarter before Slippery Rock countered with a pair of goals in the final six-plus minutes to hold a 2-1 advantage. The Rock continued to add to their lead in the second quarter behind three-straight goals, including two free-position shots. Senior
Logan Hibbard halted the run at the 6:28 mark with a man-up goal to cut the deficit to 5-2. Slippery Rock netted two additional goals in the closing minutes to take a 7-2 edge into halftime.
Mount Olive stormed back early in the third quarter with five unanswered goals, including four from Hibbard and one from sophomore Alex Fitzgerald to tie the contest at 7-7. The Rock quickly countered with a free-position goal before sophomore

Teagan Dunnett scored consecutive goals in 28 seconds to take a 9-8 edge. In the fourth, Slippery Rock knotted the game at 9-9 with six-plus minutes left, but Mount Olive tallied two straight goals, courtesy of junior

Caroline Clark, 11-9. The Rock registered back-to-back goals, including the game-tying goal with 23 seconds left to send the contest to overtime.
Following a scoreless first overtime, Clark netted the game-winning goal in the second OT to secure the 12-11 win on Wednesday.
Hibbard finished with a six-point performance behind five goals and one assist, while Clark recorded a pair of goals. Sophomore
Madison Dow delivered an outstanding defensive performance with five caused turnovers and six ground balls.
Junior goalie
Anna James (3-0) earned the win after collecting nine saves on 27 shots faced in 68-plus minutes in the cage.
Mount Olive returns to Conference Carolinas play on Wednesday, March 20, to face Belmont Abbey in a rematch of the 2023 Conference Carolinas Championship Game, starting at 2:30 p.m.
