Levet ties for 13th; Trojans finish 10th as a team

MONROE, N.C. (March 12) – Freshmen Lucie Levet and Valentina Agostino fired career-low rounds of even par 72, as the Trojans matched their lowest career team round to place 10th overall at the Jerry Surratt Memorial Intercollegiate, hosted by Wingate.

The University of Mount Olive women's golf program finished 10th in a competitive field and leaped two positions on the leaderboard after carding a 77-over 941 (322-320-299). UMO tied its lowest team score in a round after shooting an 11-over 299 on the final day. The host No. 20 ranked Bulldogs captured the team title by one stroke after recording a 16-over 880 (296-293-291). No. 4 Anderson finished second overall with a score of 17-over 881 (299-293-289), while Findlay rounded out the top three after shooting 18-over 882 (301-289-292).

Levet registered her fourth top-20 finish this season after posting a score of eight-over 224 (73-79-72) to tie for 13th place at the Stonebridge Golf Club. She led the team with 35 pars and converted six birdies over three rounds of play. On the final day, Levet carded a career-low even par 72 to climb 10 places on the individual leaderboard.

Agostino tied for 41st overall with a 16-over 232 (84-76-72) and jumped an impressive 16 spots on the leaderboard during the final 18 holes. She produced 29 pars and a team-leading seven birdies while delivering a career-best round of even par 72 on Tuesday.

Freshman Claire Beitel finished with a score of 22-over 238 (79-79-80) to tie for 54th in a field of over 90 competitors. She tied for second on the team with 29 pars made while also dropping three birdies in 54 holes played. Junior Victoria Morelli leaped eight slots during the final round to place 72nd overall with a score of 31-over 247 (86-86-75) and made 28 pars during the event. Sophomore Alexis Lewis competed and finished 90th overall.

Wingate graduate student Hailey McLaughlin claimed individual medalist honors with a two-under 214 (71-72-71) behind 10 birdies and 35 pars.

The Trojans return to the course next week on March 18-19 for the Barton Intercollegiate at the Wedgewood Golf Course.
