ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (Feb. 6) – In the highly competitive field with several teams among the top 25 in NCAA Division II, the University of Mount Olive women's golf team finished 16th overall at the World Golf Invitational hosted by Flagler.
The Trojans carded a 124-over 988 (329-330-329) to place 16th in the team standings over three rounds at the Slammer and Squire golf course. No. 11 ranked Lynn claimed the invitational title by 10 strokes after carding a 20-over 884 (288-297-299) with all five golfers finishing among the top 20. No. 2 Rollins placed second in the field with a 30-over 894 (304-293-229) while No. 1 Nova Southeastern finished one stroke back in third place with a 31-over 895 (293-298-304).
Freshman
Lucie Levet tied for 68th overall after posting a 25-over 241 (81-82-78) with four birdies and 26 pars while competing in Florida. Junior
Victoria Morelli carded a 29-over 245 (83-80-82) to tie for 76th place with two birdies and 25 pars. Sophomore
Violette Daudin tallied 25 pars and finished with a 33-over 249 (81-83-85) to tie for 82nd overall. Fellow freshman
Valentina Agostino placed 86th overall with a 37-over 253 (84-85-84) while sophomore
Alexis Lewis finished 92nd with a 98-over 314 (97-109-108).
Nova Southeastern junior Maia Samuelsson earned the individual title after firing a one-over 217 (70-74-73) over three rounds.
The Trojans are idle for two weeks before returning to action at the Battle of Hilton Head hosted by Lincoln Memorial at Palmetto Dunes in South Carolina.
