NEWBERRY, S.C (Feb. 28) – Senior
Logan Hibbard scored a career-high five goals on Wednesday evening, as the No. 25 ranked Trojans cruised past Newberry by a 17-7 margin in non-conference play.
With the win, the University of Mount Olive women's lacrosse team improves to 3-1 overall behind a perfect 2-0 mark on the road. The two sides met for just the third time in the previous 10 years with UMO boasting a 4-0 mark in all-time series. Meanwhile, Newberry falls to 2-3 this season with a 1-2 record against Conference Carolinas opponents.
In the first quarter, Hibbard netted the opening goal in just 34 seconds, but the Wolves answered back at the 12:41 mark to tie the contest, 1-1. Sophomore

Rileigh White scored back-to-back goals in the span of two minutes before Hibbard tallied her second of the game on a man-up opportunity to extend the lead to 4-1. Newberry countered with its man-up chance to cut the deficit to 4-2, but freshman
Caroline Clark scored her fifth goal of the season to hold a 5-2 edge. The Wolves closed the gap to 5-3 in the initial minutes of the second before sophomore
Maddy Fratus registered consecutive goals in a low-scoring quarter, 7-3.
Following halftime, Newberry once again scored early on a man-up opportunity, but the Trojans responded with four unanswered goals. Hibbard collected two more, while Morgan and junior
Lena DeFilippo added to the scoresheet to take an 11-4 advantage in the third quarter. After a goal by the Wolves at the 3:48 mark, Morgan completed her hat trick in the closing minutes of the third before fifth-year
Bria Hamilton scored her first of the game, 13-5. In the fourth, Newberry recorded back-to-back goals to trim the deficit to 13-7, but UMO netted the final four goals to secure the 17-7 victory.

Anna James earned the win after tallying eight saves and five ground balls on 23 shots faced while playing all 60 minutes.
In addition to five goals, Hibbard contributed four caused turnovers, three ground balls, and three draw controls.
Mount Olive finished with a 24-15 edge in shots on goal while holding a 15-12 lead in draw controls.
The Trojans will return to Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex on Tuesday, March 5, when they host Lynn, starting at 2 p.m.
