SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Oct. 26) – Competing at the Roger Milliken Center on Saturday morning, the University of Mount Olive women's cross country team posted an 11th-place finish in the team standings at the Conference Carolinas Championships.
The Trojans registered 310 points at the league meet in a field of 13 teams and featured six runners in the competition. North Greenville captured its first-ever Conference Carolinas Championship with 43 points after four individuals placed in the top 15 on the leaderboard. Just two points behind, Converse recorded 45 points with three competitors in the top three while UNC Pembroke rounded out the top three after totaling 68 points.
Freshman
Alyssa Callihan paced Mount Olive for the first time this season and placed 59th overall with a mark of 26 minutes, 56.4 seconds in the six-kilometer race on Saturday. She produced an average mile time of 7:13.4 while competing in her first conference meet.
Senior
Josie Kilborn finished 72nd after crossing the line with a time of 27:41.1, while freshman
Alex White (27:54.8) and junior
Natalie Baldwin (27:55.4) placed back-to-back at 78th and 79th overall, respectively. Senior
Caroline Allred rounded out the team scorers in 86th with a mark of 28:28.7 and Victoria Badgett finished 113th overall after crossing the line in 35:41.7.
UNC Pembroke sophomore Moureen Kimaiyo secured her second-straight Conference Carolinas individual medalist honors by 28.2 seconds after crossing the line with a time of 21:46.1.
Mount Olive is idle for two weeks before it competes at the NCAA Southeast Regional on Saturday, November 9, at the same venue as the league championship, Milliken Research Park in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
