ELON, N.C. (Oct. 18) – In the final race ahead of the league championship, the Trojans produced a seventh-place finish in the team standings on Friday morning while racing at the Phoenix Invitational hosted by Elon.
The University of Mount Olive women's cross country program finished seventh overall with 210 points in a highly competitive field with six Division I teams. Charleston captured the team championship with 29 points behind five individuals in the top 10 overall. Elon placed second in the team standings with 52 points and featured the individual champion while VCU rounded out the top three with 79 points.
Freshman
Alex White led the Trojans in a fourth straight competition after crossing the line in 27 minutes, 40.9 seconds to place 52nd overall in the six-kilometer race on Friday. She recorded an average mile time of 7:26 at the Elon Cross Country Course.
Fellow freshman
Alyssa Callihan was four positions back to finish 56th with a time of 28:50.5. Senior
Josie Kilborn placed 57th overall after crossing the line in 28:50.8 while fellow senior
Caroline Allred finished right behind in 58th with a mark of 29:35.8. Freshman Victoria Badgett rounded out the team score with a time of 37:50.5 to finish 65th overall.
Elon junior Jasmine Young claimed medalist honors by 4.3 seconds after crossing the line in 21:58.7.
Mount Olive is set to compete at the Conference Carolinas Championships on Saturday, Oct. 26, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, at the Milliken Research Park.
