HARDEEVILLE, S.C. (Oct. 12) – The University of Mount Olive women's cross country team placed 10th in the team standings on Saturday morning while competing at the Sand Shark Invitational hosted by USC Beaufort.
The Trojans recorded a 10th-place finish while competing at Sergeant Jasper Park in a field featuring three Conference Carolinas programs. Winthrop earned the team title with 37 points following all five runners placing in the top 10 on the individual leaderboard. Converse finished second overall with 50 points and featured the individual champion while Georgia Southern rounded out the top three with 60 points.
For a third consecutive race, freshman
Alex White led Mount Olive with a time of 22:45.1 to place 55th overall in the five-kilometer race. White was named the Conference Carolinas September Freshman of the Month following a strong start to her collegiate career at UMO.
Junior
Natalie Baldwin finished two positions back in 57th after crossing the line in 22:46 while posting an average mile of 7:19.2 on Saturday. Freshman
Alyssa Callihan produced a mark of 23:11.1 to place 63rd overall while senior
Josie Kilborn delivered a season-best time of 23:33.2 to finish 65th in a field of over 100 participants.

Caroline Allred crossed the line with a mark of 24:08.5 to place 69th and freshman Victoria Badgett finished 88th with a time of 29:32.7.
Converse junior Lauren Beatty captured medalist honors in South Carolina by 15.8 seconds with a time of 18:08.5.
The Trojans return to action on Friday, Oct. 18, to compete at the Elon Phoenix XC Invite hosted at the Elon Cross Country Course.
