BUENA VISTA, Va. (Jan. 27) – The University of Mount Olive women's wrestling program earned its first-ever team title and had five wrestlers win their respective weight class in tournament competition at the Southern Virginia Invitational on Saturday.

The Trojans featured all 15 individuals on the podium while recording 25 victories, including 19 wins via fall. For a consecutive week, junior Samantha Miller and sophomore Nia Miranda collected an individual title in their weight class.

At 109, Miller posted a 2-0 record to go undefeated for a second straight week while earning the individual title. Following an opening-round bye, she delivered a fall in the first period over Alexis Deagle of Marymount before defeating fellow teammate Jeulenea Khang in the first-place match by a 10-0 tech fall.

Freshman Ayonna McNeill delivered an impressive 4-0 record while competing at 123 in Virginia on Saturday to win her weight class. In the first round, she claimed a win by fall over Nathalie Erazo of Southern Virginia before earning another pin over teammate Jillian Timberlake. McNeill followed up with her third fall of the day against Madison Wilson of Emory & Henry and closed the competition with a 12-2 tech fall versus Abby Pilkington of Southern Virginia.

At 130, freshman Brielle Bibla captured the individual title after registering a 2-0 record. After receiving a bye to the semifinals, she produced a dominant 23-second fall in the first period over Makenna Dolt of Southern Virginia. Bibla battled in the first-place match against Ava Thomas of Emory & Henry before recording a pin.

Freshman Angelica Steffy posted an unblemished 3-0 record in the 136-weight class to claim a title at Southern Virginia. She opened the day with a 38-second fall in the first period over Madison Alcon of Liberty before producing a pin against Grace Royster of Southern Virginia. In her final match, Steffy defeated Hailie Misplay of Greensboro via fall to finish with an undefeated mark.

In the 155-weight class, Miranda recorded consecutive individual titles with a 3-0 mark on Saturday. After an opening-round bye, she registered a fall over MacKenzie Yates of Liberty before defeating her teammate Jocelyn Mattingly with a pin in the semifinals. Miranda won in the first-place match with a 10-1 decision against Molly Keller of Emory & Henry.

Mount Olive returns to the mat on Sunday, Feb. 4, when it hosts Allen for a dual match at Kornegay Arena, starting at 3 p.m.
