Claire Beitel and
Lucie Levet opened the fall season by placing among the top 10 individually on Tuesday, as the Trojans finished fifth overall in the team standings at the UC Invitational hosted by Charleston.
The University of Mount Olive women's golf team posted a 43-over 611 (303-308) while competing at the 16-team event, which featured multiple schools from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) and Mountain East Conference (MEC). Glenville State won the tournament title by one stroke with a 30-over 598 (302-296) behind three top-15 golfers. Gannon placed second with a 31-over 599 (300-299) while playing at the Edgewood Country Club. Ashland rounded out the top three teams after carding a 32-over 600 (299-301).
In her first appearance with the program, Beitel finished tied for fifth on the individual leaderboard with a seven-over 149 (74-75). She tied for the team lead with three birdies and 23 pars over two rounds while leaping two positions on the final day. Levet tied for eighth overall with an eight-over 150 (73-77) with three birdies and 23 pars made while competing in West Virginia. She fired an outstanding two-over 73 during the first round with three birdies, including a pair on the front nine.
Senior
Victoria Morelli finished in a tie for 14th overall with a 10-over 152 (79-73) and jumped 12 positions on the individual leaderboard on the final day. She carded a two-over 73 during the second round and made an albatross on the par-five 18th. Freshman
Valentina Agostino tied for 30th overall in her first tournament with Mount Olive and shot an 18-over 160 (77-83) with three birdies and 20 pars. Sophomore
Violette Daudin finished in a tie for 61st with a 32-over 174 (88-86) and carded 10 pars and one birdie in two rounds of play.
Glenville sophomore Hailey Hendershott earned medalist honors by six strokes with a two-under 140 (68-72) with nine birdies.
The Trojans are idle for three weeks before competing at the Patsy Rendleman Invitational on Oct. 2-3 in Salisbury, North Carolina.
