MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. (Sept. 13) – In a back-and-forth contest, UMO earned its third-straight South Atlantic Conference (SAC) victory on Wednesday afternoon over Wingate, 3-2.
With the win, the University of Mount Olive field hockey team improves to 4-1 overall and 3-0 in league play. The Trojans have now won 11 consecutive matches at Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs fall to 2-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
In the opening minutes of the match, both teams remained scoreless with limited opportunities. At the 8:07 mark of the match, WU was first to score, 1-0. Just 16 seconds later, a pass by freshman

Jemimah Kriechelberg leveled the match, 1-1. Although the Trojans out-shot Wingate 4-2 in the second quarter, neither team saw a goal.

Mount Olive out-shot Wingate 15-5 and held an 11-4 edge on penalty corners.
UMO hits the road to play on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 11:00 a.m. as it faces Lincoln Memorial in a conference matchup.
