PUEBLO, Colo. (May 26) – The University of Mount Olive men's track & field team competed in a pair of events on the second day of the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted at the CSU Pueblo Thunderbowl on Friday evening.
Senior
Justen Burnette placed seventh in Heat 2 and finished 21st overall in the preliminaries of the 200-meter dash after crossing the line with a time of 21.05 seconds. The top two times from each heat, plus the following three-best times, advanced to the finals of the event on Saturday. Burnette completes his decorated career at UMO as a two-time national qualifier, seven-time USTFCCCA all-region honoree, and a nine-time Conference Carolinas champion.
Fellow senior
Joshua Faison competed in a field of 19 individuals and fouled on all three attempts in the discus to finish the outdoor season. He concludes his outstanding career at Mount Olive as the 2023 Conference Carolinas Field Athlete of the Year while earning nine league championships and 10 USTFCCCA all-region accolades.
