GREENVILLE, N.C. (April 1) – The University of Mount Olive men's track & field team improved numerous conference qualifying marks and set several top-10 all-time marks in school history while placing third in in the team standings at the Bill Carson Invitational, hosted by East Carolina.

Senior Jordan Martin made an improvement to his conference standard in the 110-meter hurdles after crossing the line in 15.17 seconds, which ranks fourth all-time at Mount Olive. He also holds the third-best mark in the Conference Carolinas this year.

In the triple jump, sophomore Demonte Lavender enhance his league mark in the event with a distance of 13.72 meters, which advances him up the list to third in the conference.

In the 400 meters, junior Joshua Morell and sophomore Andrew Nixon each established conference championship marks. Morell crossed the line in 48.98 seconds to finish fourth overall with the mark ranking seventh in program history. Nixon placed right behind in fifth following a time of 49.12 seconds, which sits eighth all-time at Mount Olive.

Junior QuVontre Harper moved into the top-five in the Conference Carolinas in the 100 meters with a time of 10.82 to improve his conference standard.

In the discus, three UMO athletes improved their league qualifying mark to climb on the conference individual leader board. Senior Dorian Tolbert placed fifth in the event with a toss of 44.77 meters to advance to third in the Conference Carolinas this season. Sophomore Nicholas Cloud finished ninth overall in the discus and improved his conference standard with a mark of 41.38 meters, while sophomore Israel Long also enhance his distance with a toss of 40.27 meters.

Additionally, Tolbert placed third in the hammer throw with a mark of 51.41 meters to improve his league championship standard and move to third the Conference Carolinas in the event. Sophomore Billy Crawford also hit the conference qualifying mark for the first time this year in the hammer throw with a distance of 41.95 meters.

The Trojans return to the track on April 7-8, when they travel to Durham, North Carolina, for the Duke Invitational.
