GREENVILLE, S.C. (April 17) – After an outstanding performance in the regular season finale, University of Mount Olive junior opposite hitter
Justin Gregory was named the Conference Carolinas Player of the Week by the league office on Monday afternoon.
A native from Palm Beach, Florida, Gregory averaged 5.83 points and 4.33 kills per set behind a .346 hitting percentage last week. This past Thursday, he delivered a team-leading 13 kills while adding three service aces, six digs and three blocks in a league win over Barton. Gregory eclipsed 200 kills in the regular-season finale and is tied for the team lead with 25 aces this season. He is in the top-five in Conference Carolinas matches in aces per set at 0.33.
Gregory ranks among the top-15 in the conference in multiple statistical categories following a standout junior campaign. He ranks third on the team with 259.0 total points while tallying 201 kills in 85 sets played. On the defensive side, Gregory has tallied 57 blocks which sits second on the team. He becomes the first UMO player to receive the weekly league accolade this season.
Mount Olive returns to action tomorrow, Tuesday, April 18, as it travels for the quarterfinals of the Conference Carolinas Championship at King, starting at 7 p.m.
