WILMINGTON, N.C. (Mar. 3) – The University of Mount Olive men's track & field team reached four Conference Carolinas qualifying standards on Friday while opening the outdoor season at the UNCW Seahawk Invitational.
In the hammer throw, the Trojans had three individuals reach the league standard for the conference championships. Senior
Dorian Tolbert registered a personal-best mark and place second with a toss of 51.11 meters, which ranks fourth all-time in UMO history. Sophomore
Alex Smith-Fort'e finished third in the standings with a distance of 50.69 meters, while teammate
Israel Long placed fourth after a mark of 46.73 meters on Friday.
Additionally, Long set a personal best in the javelin following a toss of 43.52 meters to finish fifth in a field of 19 competitors.
Mount Olive returns to action tomorrow, March 4, at the UNCW Seahawk Invitational with events kicking off at 10 a.m. in Wilmington, North Carolina.
